For a moped or scooter, you need an AM licence, unless another valid licence already gives you the necessary driving entitlement. The training consists of theory and a practical section.
Start with theory
You’ll learn traffic rules, traffic awareness and the specific risks for moped riders. Use up-to-date practice material and only book when you understand the explanations behind any mistakes.
Practical lessons
During the lessons, you’ll practise vehicle control, observation, road positioning and dealing with other road users. Protective clothing and a suitable helmet are essential.
The practical test
The examiner will assess whether you can ride safely and independently. Ask the driving school how transport, communication and use of the scooter during the test are arranged.
Cost items
Theory materials and the theory test.
Number of practical lessons.
Practical test.
Rental of scooter and equipment.
Any administration fees.
Comparing driving schools
Look for experience with beginner riders, clear explanations and the condition of the equipment. A low package price is not a good deal if important parts are missing.
In short
Ask for one total overview of theory, lessons, test and materials. That way, you’ll know in advance what the full route to AM will cost.
